Ontario has launched the Home Renovation Savings Program as part of its ongoing commitment to energy efficiency. This initiative provides substantial financial incentives to help homeowners lower energy costs, increase their property value, and contribute to a more sustainable future. With rebates covering up to 30% of eligible upgrade expenses, this program offers a significant boost for energy-conscious homeowners.
At Verdun Windows & Doors, we’re passionate about helping homeowners make their living spaces more comfortable, energy-efficient, and cost-effective. The new Home Renovation Savings Program is an exciting opportunity for Ontario residents to upgrade their homes with financial support while reducing their environmental impact. If you’ve been considering an upgrade to your windows and doors, now is the perfect time to act.
Are There Window and Door Rebates Available in Ontario?
Starting January 28, 2025, the Government of Ontario’s Home Renovation Savings Program will provide rebates for various energy-efficient upgrades, including $100 per new window or door and $600 for a home energy assessment.
This is in addition to the Canada Greener Homes Loan, a federal government rebate, which consists of an interest-free $40,000 loan issued by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and payable over a 10-year period.
For Quebec residents, the Greener Homes Grant funding is available through the provincial government’s Rénoclimat program. For window and door replacements with qualifying products, the program covers $60 per rough opening, and up to $20,000 in total per single-family home.
What is the Home Renovation Savings Program?
This program is designed to help homeowners invest in energy-efficient home improvements by offering rebates that cover up to 30% of eligible costs. These upgrades include energy-efficient windows and doors, insulation, smart thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels, and battery storage systems. By making these upgrades, homeowners can save on energy bills, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and enjoy a more comfortable living environment.
The program builds on the success of past initiatives, such as the GreenON and Home Efficiency Rebate programs, and represents Ontario’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainable living and reduce household energy consumption.
Eligible Upgrades Under the Home Renovation Savings Program
The program offers rebates for a range of energy-efficient upgrades, including:
- $600 for a home energy assessment

Later in 2025, energy-efficient appliances such as refrigerators and freezers will also be eligible for rebates.
Why Upgrade Your Windows and Doors?
Windows and doors play a crucial role in your home’s energy efficiency. Outdated or inefficient models can cause significant energy loss, making your HVAC system work harder and driving up energy costs. By upgrading to energy-efficient windows and doors, you can:
- Enhance Insulation: Modern designs and materials maintain consistent indoor temperatures year-round.
- Reduce Energy Bills: Improved insulation minimizes heat loss and gain, lowering your energy usage.
- Cut Your Carbon Footprint: Reduced energy consumption means fewer greenhouse gas emissions.
- Boost Home Value: Energy-efficient upgrades are a smart investment that increases your property’s resale value.
